Do you know what burns the most amount of calories for your body? If you guessed muscle you are correct. Join our class and send a strength building signal to your body and build that muscle needed to burn calories in the most effective way possible. We prioritize resistance training here at The Yard and we recognize it as one of the most beneficial forms of exercise you can do to build bone mass and maintain it into your later years. In this class, you will perform movements that require you to squat, hinge, push, and pull. We have different variations and styles for each exercise based on your skill level and ability. We highly suggest this class as the staple of your workout routine!
If you are not satisfied with your current HIIT workouts we may have a solution. This class aims to burn the maximum amount of body fat by exchanging trendy movements with weights such as barbells, dumbbells, bodyweight, and more. By using weights each class you will be able to progress with the goal of incorporating strength base endurance versus the constant chase of more and more cardio intense workouts to accomplish your goals. Make no mistake though, you will be challenged during your class time! This 45 min class starts off with body flow movements to better improve your mobility and stability and gets you ready to perform your movements with max effort and purpose!
During this class you will use various forms of equipment along with body weight with the goal being to improve functional mobility and strengthen proper posture. The goal is to get you moving better and connecting better with your body. This class will deliver constant change and movement during that is safe and effective leaving you ready to move better than you have before!
We understand you have worked all week and would like to have some fun! This class is great for those who like to have some fun, maybe those who do not get to move much during the week day, or for the ones lifting . Come get some much needed steps in with fun competition! Compete with yourself, partners, and groups while moving during the weekend!
My name is Ben O’Harra and I have a passion for fitness, competition and service. When I was a kid, I enjoyed playing sports and competition, but always felt led to become a Police Officer. The reason for this was because I wanted to serve and make a positive difference in people’s lives.
I got my bachelors degree in Justice Studies, made it through the screening process into the San Jose Police Academy, completed the entire six month training program, and graduated with the “Top Cop” award for high marks across all evaluated fields.
Once I started working as a Law Enforcement Officer, I was faced with a feeling that this career was not the one for me. I resigned from the San Jose Police Department and had no clue what I was going to do with myself. I had never considered a different career path and I felt confused, lost and angry about the whole situation. I had lost my drive, my purpose, and it was the worst feeling in the world.
One day a friend reached out to me and asked me if I could help him get back into shape. He remembered how I had a passion for fitness and wanted to get ready for a Spartan Race. Then I had my epiphany. I found that my calling was to serve others through a career in fitness. I became a certified personal trainer and am now using my passion for fitness to help others improve their quality of life and help them be at their best!
